Four seasons in one place
In the 1860's, a gold rush lured miners to a rugged corner of
New Zealand. I'm sure that the French Butel brothers never dreamed
that what they established as a 500-acre wheat farm to feed the
nearby town of Arrowtown would become a world class resort and an
idyllic setting for weddings.
Today, the rustic remains of that farm live on in the restored
buildings and an iconic avenue of trees that welcome visitors to
Millbrook Resort, an international resort in total harmony with the
land. This five-star, four-season property, set in a natural
amphitheatre and surrounded by mountains, is blessed with stunning
natural scenery and has much to offer prospective couples as they
plan their big day. As well as a full range of luxurious,
beautifully appointed accommodation, there's an 18-hole golf
course, multi award-winning spa and a number of dining options.
An impressive 95% of the grounds is open space, creating a
myriad of ceremony and photo opportunities. You can tie the knot
just about anywhere on the grounds. A popular spot is beside the
shimmering Millpond overlooking the manicured greens with Coronet
Peak in the background; or there's the dappled shade of the trees
beside the original Smithy shed, Orchard Hill which provides views
overlooking the entire resort, or head behind the Villas for views
over Lake Hayes and the Remarkables. With pebbled drives, rustic
stone walls, mature trees, the shimmering pond and mountainous
backdrops your photographer will have a field day!
If I was planning a large wedding, the Millbrook Pavilion would
be high on my list! This permanent silk-lined and carpeted marquee
has clear front and side walls and double doors and covered
entrance overlooking the spectacular 27th green. On a more intimate
scale, the Millhouse Conference Centre overlooks the Millpond and,
having been restored from the original estate's wheat mill, is
characteristic of Millbrook's old-world charm. Whether you'd like
to offer your guests a casual but elegant barbeque beside the
Millpond or a mouth-watering degustation menu, a talented catering
team will put local wines and produce to good effect and can tailor
menus to suit the most discerning palettes. Their selection of
cold, hot and dessert canapés are mouthwatering! Guests heading to
Queenstown from around New Zealand or from abroad are bound to want
to stay longer than merely for the ceremony … as much as they love
you, they'll fall in love with this region, too! Thankfully,
Millbrook Resort offers a range of options from rooms and suites to
cottages, villas and fairway homes, all complementing the style of
the region. Recent and ongoing upgrades have cemented the Resort's
5-star status. You and your guests will be spoilt for choice, and a
wedding at
