Laserless Anti-Ageing Option

Just about every week, a new product lands on my desk, and I do love trying them all out. Last year, I tried the Olay range for the first time in many years. Not only have I personally tested and like this range, but others appear to concur.
Since its launch in New Zealand five years ago, Olay Regenerist has become known as the alternative to drasti anti-ageing procedures such as laser, Botox & chemical peels. This year, Olay's most scientific, advanced and innovative range, and the anti-ageing choice of millions of women around the world, has undergone a complete transformation - including a formulation upgrade and new packaging. Laser anti-ageing treatments involve using energy from a light source to remove the top layer of skin, stimulating your skin's own natural wound-healing ability. When your skin is zapped with a laser beam, it rapidly heats up the skin, creating micro-wounds and triggering the wound-healing process of your skin. When skin cells are injured, a slew of amino-peptides are released within the skin, which instructs your skin to repair the damage. Auckland appearance medicine specialist, Dr Garsing Wong, says that while in the past cosmetic laser procedures have been seen as the 'gold standard' for non-surgical revitalisation of your skin, the new improved Olay Regenerist range is a great option to help reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles for younger-looking skin, without the use of a laser. "Overall, I believe the products in the new and improved Olay Regenerist range are scientifically advanced and innovative, and can work to help improve the signs of ageing on your face. The range contains an amino-peptide called pal-KTTKS, which is scientifically proven to boost collagen production and help to regenerate skin surface. It also contains another amino-peptide - Carnosine - which protects the skin as a powerful antioxidant. When the skin is impacted by environmental factors, collagen becomes damaged and takes the full brunt of the damage. A UV cream helps to decrease some of this damage, but the presence of Carnosine reduces collagen damage by half compared to unprotected skin. Basically, Carnosine is proven to protect collagen, and the end result is younger looking skin! The addition of Carnosine to the other antioxidants already in Regenerist (Vitamin E and green tea extract) boosts the antioxidant capacity by 30%.
